“Supergirl” executive producer Greg Berlanti said that Floriana Lima’s new recurring status on the show doesn’t necessarily mean that fans are going to see less of Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Lima) in Season 3 of the CW series.

While at a reunion panel for “Everwood” at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Wednesday, Berlanti said that he doesn’t think the change in Lima’s status on the show would be noticeably felt by viewers next season. “If any character people love is not there as much as they want them there, they’re going to be upset that they’re not,” Berlanti said (via Entertainment Weekly). “[So] I’d say we will use her as much as we can.”

“I think [Floriana is] wonderful on the show, and she’s got some real ardent fans, and she should,” continued Berlanti. “Of course we wanted more of her. But she’s got other things in the hopper and other things she wants to consider. We’d love to have her back as much as possible.”

Although Lima won’t be returning as a series regular next season, it appears that there won’t be any shortage of sweet moments between Alex and Maggie when the series returns this fall. In fact, Lima and Leigh filmed a kissing scene for Season 3, episode 1, which fans got a glimpse of in the Season 3 trailer released at San Diego Comic-Con last month.

At the end of the Season 2 finale, Alex asked Maggie to marry her, and although the police detective didn’t say yes at the time, photos taken from the “Supergirl” set last month suggest that the two are either already engaged or married in the show’s Season 3 premiere.

In the photos shared by HollywoodNorth.buzz on Twitter, Leigh and Lima are wearing matching rings on their left fingers, leading viewers to speculate that their characters — dubbed by fans as Sanvers — might have reached a new milestone in their relationship.
