“Supergirl” star Katie McGrath revealed that Lena feels guilty in Season 3 of the CW series over her involvement in costing Kara’s relationship with Mon-El.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, McGrath said that even though her character is happy about her contribution to stopping the Daxamite invasion last season, the L-Corp CEO feels guilty that she’s part of the reason why Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) are no longer together.

“While Lena’s feeling good that she helped saved the world, she feels very responsible that her best friend is hurting, and she’s trying to bring Kara back to the friendship that they had,” McGrath told the news outlet, before teasing that Lena will do something very big in the premiere to try to fix that.

Despite Lena’s feeling of remorse at the beginning of Season 3, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg previously told Entertainment Weekly that Lena and Kara’s friendship will “continue to grow” next season. In fact, Kreisberg said that there’s “a lot of Lena-Kara adventures” early on in the upcoming installment.

But even though Lena proved herself to be a moral character last season, Kreisberg revealed that her goodness will again be tested in the upcoming installment.

“The most interesting thing about Lena is that she is so good, and so moral, and believes in second chances, but she comes from this family of truly evil people,” Kreisberg said. “As people are going to realize over the course of this season, it doesn’t take much to make you bad. People don’t just turn evil. They do one small bad thing and then that leads to another, and then to another, and so any time you’re watching Lena, you’re always wondering, ‘Is this the moment when she does the one small thing?’”

While it remains unclear whether Lena will eventually fall to the dark side next season, Benoist told Entertainment Weekly that Kara has currently no reason to question Lena’s friendship with her.

“Not at this point, no,” Benoist told the news outlet in April when asked if Kara has doubts about Lena’s friendliness to her. “I think they have a really special bond. … She has no caution to being friends with Lena. She just sees a good heart right now.”

“Supergirl” Season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
