Odette Annable is thrilled to join the cast of “Supergirl.”

Shortly after it was announced that Annable has been cast as the show’s Season 3 big bad named Reign, the actress took to social media to express her excitement about her new series regular role.

In an Instagram post, Annable wrote that she’s “very very excited” to cause some trouble in Vancouver playing the new villain Reign on the Melissa Benoist-led series.

On Twitter, Annable revealed that landing the role of Reign was “kind of a dream” for her. She also thanked executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg for giving her the opportunity to play the comic book baddie.

“Greg and I have wanted to work with Odette for years. We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign,” said Kreisberg in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reign will be introduced as part of “Supergirl’s” interpretation of the famed World Killer storyline from the DC Comics. In the comics, Reign is one of the five Worldkillers, a.k.a. genetically engineered Kryptonian weapons, created by Supergirl’s biological father Zor-El. Just like Supergirl, Reign possesses superhuman strength and speed, as well as the ability to fly. Created by Michael Green, Mike Johnson and Mahmud Asrar, Reign first appeared in print in March 2012.

Reign’s arrival on Earth was teased at the end of Season 2 finale of “Supergirl,” in which it was revealed that there was another baby from Krypton — in addition to Supergirl (Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) — who was sent to Earth before Krypton’s destruction.

In the final moments of the finale, several hooded figures placed the mystery baby in a pod that quickly left the planet before it exploded. “It should survive the journey. It will grow strong on Earth… and then it will reign,” said the baby’s guardian as the pod launched into space.

Annable’s “Supergirl” role comes after the cancellation of the CBS medical drama “Pure Genius,” in which she played the role of Dr. Zoe Brockett. Annable’s other recent TV credits include FOX’s “The Grinder,” ABC’s “The Astronaut Wives Club” and Cinemax’s “Banshee.”

“Supergirl” Season 3 premieres in the fall on The CW.
