“Supergirl” actress Melissa Benoist has just filed for divorce from her husband Blake Jenner.

TMZ broke the shocking news on Tuesday evening, Dec. 27. And since then, fans of the “Glee” couple have taken to Twitter to express their sadness over the unexpected split.

While others seemed to have quickly accepted the breakup news, a few appeared to be in state of denial.

Benoist and Jenner had been quite private about their married life, so the public saw no signs that the pair’s relationship was on the rocks. As a matter of fact, a lot of people looked up to them as a perfect couple, so it’s a little disappointing to some when it was revealed that Benoist is putting an end to their marriage.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Benoist cited “irreconcilable differences” for the split and doesn’t want either party to give spousal support. The two have no children together, so the divorce process is expected to be quick and smooth.

Benoist and Jenner met for the first time during a dance rehearsal for “Glee” in 2012. “We clicked on his first day, during a ‘Born to Hand Jive’ dance rehearsal,” Benoist told Teen Vogue that year. “I love talking about it. Blake is amazing!”

“I thought she was the bomb the second I saw her, so it was just super cool to be working together,” Jenner told People in 2014 when asked what it was like to work with Benoist. “Thankfully, we’ve had some scenes together. Because if we didn’t, I don’t think we would have had the time to get to know each other.”

Benoist and Jenner got engaged in July 2013 and later tied the knot in spring 2015. The former couple was last spotted together in Toronto International Film Festival last September.

In addition to sharing the screen on “Glee,” the ex-couple also got the chance to work together in two episodes of “Supergirl” Season 1, where Jenner guest starred as Cat Grant’s (Calista Flockhart) estranged son, Adam Foster.
