Get ready, “Supernatural” fans, because things are going to get pretty hot when the hit CW series airs its midseason finale. During episode 9, titled “O Brother Where Art Thou?,” one of the Winchester brothers will make their way down to the depths of hell, with the hopes of fighting fire with, well … more fire.

While plotting a way to take down The Darkness, the primordial, soul-sucking entity that’s been causing havoc throughout Season 11, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) will conjure up a plan that’ll undoubtedly result in disastrous consequences. And we have a feeling that troublesome ploy will involve Sam paying his good, ol’ friend Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) a visit.

In episode 8, Sam revealed to Dean (Jensen Ackles) that when he reached out to God for advice on how to defeat the almighty ruler’s evil sister, he received a vision -- one that involved Sam returning to the cage that holds Lucifer captive. Dean, however, stuck his nose up at the idea of his younger brother becoming cage-mates with the devil himself. Instead, Dean insisted that the two find another way to defeat The Darkness, one that didn't involve them buddying up to the fallen angel.

But of course what’s a “Supernatural” plot that doesn’t involve the beloved brothers sneaking behind one another’s backs? While Sam reunites with the fan-favorite character (against his brother’s wishes), Dean will take matters into his own hands by trying to “better understand the hold Amara (Emily Swallow) has on him.” (And apparently that hold is pretty tight!)

Amara, who has appeared to have had another growth spurt, will unleash her powers on the innocent townspeople and Dean in the Season 11 midseason finale of “Supernatural." In the promo video for “O Brother Where Art Thou?” fans can catch The Darkness laying a kiss on the eldest Winchester in a steamy scene from the upcoming installment.

“Supernatural” will air its Season 11 midseason finale on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 9 p.m. EST on the CW.
