If you’re shopping around for a new Microsoft tablet right now, the company is currently featuring discounts for several models. Via Paul Thurrott, Microsoft is offering discounts of up to $250 on several Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 models.

The deals include:

  • Microsoft Surface Book – Intel Core i5, 8 GB, 128 GB. $1299, $200 off.

  • Microsoft Surface Book – Intel Core i5, 8 GB, 256 GB, discrete GPU (first-gen). $1649, $250 off.

  • Microsoft Surface Pro 4 – Intel Core m3, 4 GB, 128 GB. $699, $200 off. (Includes Surface Pen.)

  • Microsoft Surface Pro 4 – Intel Core m3, 4 GB, 128 GB. $699, $100 off. (No Surface Pen.)

  • Microsoft Surface Pro 4 – Intel Core i5, 8 GB, 256 GB. $1049, $150 off.

Microsoft’s current promotion runs until Feb. 25. While the consumer-level Surface Pro 4 has seen several discounts in the past, the higher-end Book’s rarely sees similar price savings. As Paul Thurrott noted, the Book’s $1,299 promo price is close to the cheapest price Microsoft has charged for the high-end tablet PC.

The Surface Pro 4 is Microsoft’s flagship consumer tablet PC and is anchored around a central tablet with laptop-level storage and specifications. The Surface can also be connected to Microsoft’s Type Cover, which is a combo cover-keyboard that provides full typing functionality for the computer.

By comparison, the Surface Book is a higher-end counterpart to the Surface Pro series. The premium-priced Surface Book lineup sports specifications in line with more powerful business and enterprise-friendly laptops, making it suitable for applications like photo processing and video editing. Unlike the Type Cover — which is thinner and meant for portability — the Book features a detachable full-sized keyboard that comes with the tablet PC.

While Microsoft has yet to formally announce a successor to the Surface Book or Pro 4, both models have some age versus competing models. The Pro 4 and Book were originally launched in late 2015, though they’ve seen incremental updates since then. For a new Surface Pro 5, potential features and specifications that could see upgrades include USB-C support, Intel Kaby Lake or Cannonlake processors and improved Windows 10 integration.
