China Mainland market research Co said today that oil refining in China rose 7.9% to 374.6 million metric tons or 7.5 million barrels a day, while the nation refined a record 34.6 million tons in December, which is 25% higher than a year earlier. This came alongside recovery witnessed in the world's second largest energy user that expanded 10.7% in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Analysts expect refining volumes to increase this year as the Chinese manufacturing output is rebounding demanding more energy and more raw materials. China's industrial production rebounded 18.5% in December as exports continued to rise encouraging manufacturers to increase output.
