Tuesday, the Statistics Sweden announced that the consumer price index or CPI dropped 0.1% year-over-year in April, in contrast to a 0.2% increase in the previous month. This was the first decline since March 2004. The CPI came in line with economists' expectations.

On a monthly basis, the consumer prices rose 0.2% in April, in line with economists' expectations. In March, the CPI was up 0.3%.

The CPIX annual inflation stood at 1.4% in April, slower than the 1.5% in the previous month.

The harmonized index of consumer prices increased 1.8% annually in April, slower than the 1.9% rise in the previous month. Month-on-month, the HICP rose 0.3%.
