RTTNews - Sweden's jobless rate stood at 9.8% in June, an increase of 1.7 percentage points from the previous year, the Statistics Sweden said Thursday. Economists expected the rate to be 10.2%.

The number of unemployed persons increased by 87,000 to 503,000 in June. At the same time, the number of employed persons in the 15-74 group decreased by 79,000 to 4.6 million. The employment rate dropped to 66.3% from 68.2% last year.

Meanwhile, the average number of hours worked fell 3% year-on-year to 137 million a week in June.
