Thursday, a report by the Statistics Sweden said the jobless rate stood at 8.3% in March, representing an increase of 2 percentage points from the previous year. The rate came in line with economists' expectations. During the period, the number of unemployed persons rose by 99,000 to 404,000.

Meanwhile, the number of employed persons totaled 4.46 million in March, down 70,000 from the previous year.

The number of hours worked on average was 149.9 million per week, out of which 4.6 million hours were overtime. Adjusted for holidays and vacations, the number of hours worked fell 2.2%.
