RTTNews - Sweden's jobless rate stood at 9% in May, up from 8.3% in April, the Statistics Sweden said Thursday. Economists expected the rate to come in at 8.4%.

During the month, the number of unemployed persons increased by 157,000 from last year to 446,000. At the same time, the number of employed persons decreased 107,000 to 4.48 million. The employment rate stood at 64.6% in May.

Meanwhile, the number of hours worked on average stood at 146.1 million per week in May.
