Sweden's central government payments showed a deficit of SEK 3 billion in March, which was smaller than the Debt Office's SEK 8.8 billion deficit forecast.

The deficit stood below the expected level mainly due to SEK 7 billion higher tax payments than forecast. Interest payments on central government debt were SEK 6.5 billion, which was also higher than calculated by SEK 2.3 billion.

Further, the Debt Office said the surplus for the twelve months to March totaled SEK 109 billion. Central government debt amounted to SEK 1,009 billion at the end of March.
