RTTNews - Tuesday, the Federal Customs Administration said Switzerland's trade surplus stood at CHF 8.99 billion in the first half of 2009 compared to CHF 9.46 billion in the second half of 2008 and CHF 9.98 billion in the first six months of 2008.

Exports during the first six months of 2009 fell by a real 17.4% from the previous year, while imports were down 10%.

In June, exports totaled CHF 14.92 billion and imports amounted to CHF 13.35 billion, resulting in a surplus of CHF 1.57 billion.
