FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Swiss industrial production has continued growing in the first quarter on a yearly basis although the growing pace has slowed down considerably compared o the last three months of last year, according to figures by Swiss National Statistics.

Industrial production increased 4.3% in the first quarter from the same period last year, down from a 9.6% revised growing pace posted in the last quarter of 2007; it was previously estimated a 9.1% rise.

Quarter on quarter, industrial production fell 9.3% from January to March, with general declines in most sectors, maret analysts had advanced a decline of about 5.0%.

The positive data comes from new orders, which have increased 5.3% on the quarter, and the number of businesses, with a 7% increase year on year.
