FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Retail sales have increased above expectations in March from the same month last year, in adjusted terms, with food drinks and tobacco posting the highest increment, according to the Swiss statistics office.

In March, adjusted by inflation and by working days, retail sales have increased 9.7%, while they decreased 2.5% not working day adjusted, bearing in mind that March 2008 was two working days shorter than March 2007.

Food, drinks and tobacco sales increased 14.3% on the year, in real terms, while sales of clothing and shoes declined 5.9% from the same month last year.
