FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Swiss unemployment rate has posted a substantial increase in January according to the Swiss Confederation Statistics Office, which shows that 2008 has been a rather negative year for Swiss employment.

Unemployment has increased to 3.3% in January from 3.0% in December in absolute terms, while in seasonally adjusted terms the jobless rate has edged up to 2.9% in January from 2.8% in December.

In the last 12 months, unemployment has posted a 14.8% increase.
