The Syrian Electronic Army has hacked another online journalism outlet, this time infiltrating the blog and Twitter feed belonging to the Financial Times. Twelve posts appeared with the headlines “Syrian Electronic Army Was Here” and “Hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army” early Friday morning, as well as several tweets saying the same thing coming from as many as 14 Twitter accounts.

“Various FT blogs and social-media accounts have been compromised by hackers and we are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” Financial Times said in a statement.

The Syrian Electronic Army is a collective of hackers and activists that support Syrian president Bashar al-Assad. They primarily attack the official social media accounts belonging to journalism institutions, including CBS, BBC, Agence France-Presse and Al-Jazeera. After hacking the Associated Press’ Twitter account, fake reports about a bombing at the White House caused a temporary panic and brief stock market collapse.

While this hack didn’t cause that same sort of disruption, it's notable that the Syrian Electronic Army was able to hack more than a social media account and actually create fake blog posts. The Financial Times seems to have already resolved the issue and removed the posts.
