The NBA on Saturday fined New York Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith $25,000 for posting a photo of video model Tahiry Jose on Twiiter. Smith on Friday said he regretted the decision.

NBA Executive Vice President of basketball operations Stu Jackson announced the fine in an official release Saturday night.

I didn't know it was going to be as big deal as it is now, Smith said. I definitely regret it. It takes away from our team. Anytime I do anything that takes away from our team, I'm definitely going to regret it.

Reports are that the semi-nude post has since been deleted, but it was already circulating the Internet.

Jose, who is also a magazine model, is known for dating rapper Joe Budden for several years.

Aol SportingNews reported that Smith and Jose were together on Thursday night. Budden saw the photo and wrote, Even the high road ends.........

Later, Smith directly posted to Jose, Things are being taken (too) far sorry.

On Friday Smith said It's not the smartest move. I understand that now. I just have to be smarter in my decisions.

Smith played in China until mid-to-late February. He was signed by the Knicks about two and a half weeks ago.
