Taiwan stocks opened up 0.11 percent on Friday, with semiconductors trading flat even though Intel Corp

The TAIEX index .TWII rose 9.76 points to 8,985.34, after ending up 0.12 percent in the previous trading session.

The semiconductor sub-index .TSII fell 0.1 percent, with top contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC) (2330.TW) down 0.27 percent.

The Electronics sub-index .TELI slipped 0.08 percent while financial shares .TFNI were 0.1 percent lower.

Walsin Lihwa Corp (1605.TW) jumped 3.04 percent after a report said the droup would invest $500 million in a solar silicon wafer plant in China, making it the largest producer in the industry in Taiwan.

The Taiwan dollar TWD=TP rose 2 percent to stand at T$29.018 against the U.S. dollar.
