The Guardian - The first impression I get is that the latest trade data is very strong. Exports are led by shipments to Asia. Exports to Asia and China hit record highs for the month of March. The contribution to the January-March gross domestic product from net external demand is expected to be considerably high. Shipments of semiconductors and other electronic devices (to China) peaked in December last year, while those of steel and automobiles remain firm. This suggests a mild decoupling of the U.S. and Asian economies.
