Taylor Swift's fans are applauding the singer after she took the stand on Thursday in her sexual assault case against a Denver DJ who she said groped her backside during a 2013 meet-and-greet event.

Swift took the stand as she testified in a lawsuit brought against her by DJ David Mueller, 55, who said he was fired from radio station KYGO after Swift alleged he groped her bare buttocks during a photo op at the event. Swift is countersuing and claiming he sexually assaulted her. During her testimony, Swift was assertive that Mueller grabbed her buttocks underneath her skirt, saying he "latched on" as they posed for the photo.

"It was a definite grab... a very long grab," she said, according to NBC News. "It was intentional."

When questioned by Muller's attorney, Gabriel McFarland, about whether or not her bodyguard, Greg Dent, saw what happened and made no move to stop it, Swift maintained that it was impossible for anyone to see where Mueller's hand was due to how they were standing for the photo, with their backs against a wall.

"The only person who would have a direct eye line is someone laying underneath my skirt and we didn't have anyone positioned there," she said. "What Mr. Mueller did was very intentional and the location was very intentional and it happened very quickly. I was not going to blame Mr. Dent for something Mr. Mueller did."

In addition, Swift refused to take any blame for the incident or Mueller's firing afterwards, saying that she knew it wasn't her fault.

"I'm not going to allow you or your client make me feel in any way that this is my fault," she said. "Here we are years later, and I'm being blamed for the unfortunate events of his life that are the product of his decisions—not mine."

Swift's testimony has received a groundswell of support on social media, with many speaking out about the case in general, including one fan who shared the photo of the incident in question, saying it was hard to argue the DJ's point.

Others praised some of Swift's answers during her testimony, picking up on how she wasn't letting her voice be silenced when it came to the case.

More fans also responded by simply praising her for taking a stand.

Most remarkably, Swift, who has been the subject of criticism over the years for various reasons, including her penchant for songs about ex-boyfriends and her feuds with Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry, earned the support of those who admitted they had previously not cared for her.

Swift's testimony came one day after her mother Andrea took the stand in the case, breaking down as she testified that she couldn't believe something like that could happen to her daughter the way it did.

"I was upset to the extent that I wanted to vomit and cry at the same time," she said. "It was inconceivable to us that this could take place, how it took place and where it took place."
