Supermodel Karlie Kloss turned 23 Monday, and what birthday would be complete without a message from best friend Taylor Swift. The pop star sent a heartfelt Instagram birthday greeting, including a throwback picture of Kloss cooking in the kitchen with Calvin Harris.

Swift shared the picture to celebrate the sweet memories shared with the birthday girl, E!News reported. The singer wrote, "Some of my best memories have been with this girl, laughing in the kitchen. Happy Birthday to the ray of light that is @KarlieKloss."

To celebrate, Kloss spent the day baking her own treat, a funfetti and vanilla cake. The supermodel even shared a quick Instagram video of her baking adventure. Kloss captioned the clip, It’s my birthday! To celebrate I baked a cake ... and made a video.” The model also responded to Swift’s Instagram and sent a cute message over Twitter. "So many unforgettable memories + baked goods + LOTS Of laughs in that kitchen," Kloss wrote. "Looking forward to many more!"

She also posted a sweet message on Instagram, thanking everyone for the birthday wishes: “Watching the sun set on a very special day. Feeling incredibly #grateful for all the love in my life. Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes ... looking forward to many adventures to be had and memories to be made in the 364 days to come.”

Prior Kloss's birthday, the supermodel counted the hours before she turned 23, Billboard reported. Kloss shared a clip on her Instagram account that showed her blowing out the candles of a birthday cake, with Swift’s “22” playing in the background. The model simply wrote, "final minutes of 'feeling 22'...."

In the previous weeks, Kloss appeared on the stage of Swift’s 1989 World Tour. She was also featured on the singer’s “Bad Blood” music video.

Meanwhile, Swift is currently on the Canadian leg of her 1989 World Tour, before continuing on to the U.S. and Asia.
