The stars of MTV’s “Teen Mom 2” have reportedly been offered the chance to attend one of the network’s biggest events of the year: the 2015 Video Music Awards. But it appears not every star of the hit docuseries, currently in its sixth season, received an invitation.
The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reports that while each of the show’s leads, Leah Messer, Kailyn Lowry, Chelsea Houska and Jenelle Evans, were given an invite, MTV didn’t extend an olive branch to all of their significant others. The site claims that the network has granted original players on the series a ticket to the event in Los Angeles on Aug. 30, including Kailyn, Leah and Chelsea’s exes, Jo Rivera, Corey Simms and Adam Lind, respectively, but not some of the show's newest stars.
Despite being married to Kailyn, the site reports that her husband, Javi Marroquin, was not gifted an invite. It’s said to be a similar story in the case of Leah’s second ex-husband Jeremy Calvert and Jenelle’s ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith.
Despite MTV’s plans to have the reality stars attend the show, only one of the girls is reportedly planning to make an appearance so far. “Most of the ‘Teen Mom 2’ girls are saying ‘no thanks’ to the invite,” reports the site. “... Only Jenelle Evans is planning to attend so far. Chelsea Houska is not going and Kail Lowry and Leah Messer are still undecided.”
MTV’s decision to invite several members of the “Teen Mom 2” cast to their awards shows isn’t surprising. The network allowed the four stars of “Teen Mom OG,” Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Amber Portwood, to attend the 2015 MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles in April. While Farrah, Catelynn and Amber were in attendance – all with their respective partners by their side -- Maci was not. While it’s unclear why Maci passed up the opportunity to make an appearance, it is worth noting she was seven-months pregnant at the time of the show.
