“Teen Mom OG” star Amber Portwood doesn’t believe everything that fiancé Matt Baier says, but she still wants to go through their nuptials. Despite Matt maintaining certain falsehoods, Amber knows her husband-to-be isn’t telling the truth, she told Cosmopolitan in an exclusive interview Thursday.
“Teen Mom” stars like Farrah Abraham and Jenelle Evans said Matt hit on them via Twitter. While he accused them of lying, Amber sides with her fellow reality stars. “Do I believe it? Not really,” Amber said about Matt’s version of events.
But it doesn’t mean she harbors resentment over the lie. “Do I care? No, not really, because this was all before [Matt and I] even started talking,” she said. “I’m not really mad about it or anything because I’ve been with the man for over two years, and we have a really good life together. There’s no doubt in anybody’s mind that this man loves me.”
Amber added that he wasn’t trying to date either of the other women: “He sent them messages pretty much telling them they're beautiful and crazy stuff like that.”
She also doesn’t believe Matt’s assertion that he didn’t watch “Teen Mom” before he shacked up with Amber. “He always says that, but I know he was a fricking fan of the show,” she said.
Amber then defended Matt’s lie, saying he would be embarrassed about what his friends would say if they knew the truth: “I swear to God, that man … He’s just an older man who doesn’t want to admit that he watched ‘Teen Mom’ because all of his friends would be like, ‘You’re such a freaking wussy.’”
One of the things Matt has been there for is to help Amber with her depression. “Matt's had to pull me out of bed I don't know how many times and start the shower for me because I've been so down,” she said. “My life stops when I'm depressed because there's no getting out of it.”
“Teen Mom OG” airs on MTV Mondays at 10 p.m. EDT.
