Farrah Abraham is getting serious about potentially expanding her family and, as should be expected of the "Teen Mom OG" star, she's taking the unconventional route. The MTV reality star has been open about her desire to adopt, but she's never opened up about her preferences — until now.

In an interview with People magazine, Farrah, 24, said she's looking into all options when it comes to adoption. She told the publication that she'd be "open to adopting" an older child, largely because she knows there are so many "adorable" orphans. The controversial "Teen Mom OG" star added that her interest in adoption stems from growing up around adoptive families. Farrah said she's always hoped to be in a position to help a child and hopes the opportunity will present itself "soon."

"We're open to adopting someone who's not just — a child that can not just only be a newborn. But also a child that is maybe three of older," Farrah said. "There's a lot of, you know, orphans that are so adorable. So, I mean, it just breaks my heart when I see things like that because I grew up around adoptive families and I've always wanted to help. So it's just a time and a place and hopefully soon I will be ready."

Farrah first opened up about wanting to adopt in December 2015. At the time, she told OK! magazine she was "going through the process of approval." Farrah added that she was thrilled about the potential of adopting a child, revealing that all her neighbors growing up were adopted and many "did foster care." The "Teen Mom OG" star wasn't the only one looking forward to expanding her little family. Farrah told the publication that her daughter Sophia, now 7, was "in the right frame of mind" and had been backing her decisions all the way.

While she remains optimistic about the process, Farrah's parenting skills have been called into question several times over the years. Most recently, she was criticized for allowing her daughter to have her own Instagram account. The decision was immediately met with questions and critiques, though Farrah maintained that she would be the one monitoring the account against bullying and other inappropriate behavior. Prior to that she came under fire for gifting Sophia with $600 for losing her two front teeth, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Farrah has not revealed what stage in the adoption process she's currently in. She has previously said that she would like to complete the process within the next two years.
