'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Release Date Moved Back Two Months By Paramount

Paramount has once again pushed back the 2014 debut of the live-action film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

In order to avoid the drove of family movies usually packed into the beginning of the summer, the studio has moved the release date of "Ninja Turtles" from June 6 to Aug. 8, Variety reports.

Providing a little more space in between "Ninja Turtles" and the June 27 release of "Transformers 4" was cited as another reason for date being altered.

The film, produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, will star Megan Fox as journalist April O' Neil as well as Will Arnett, Whoopi Goldberg and William Fichtner. It will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

August 2014 will also see the release of two currently buzz worthy projects, Marvel Studio's "Guardians of the Galaxy" and the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie, possible competition for the "Ninja Turtles" flick.

There has been a great deal of excitement surrounding the "Ninja Turtles" reboot, though, with an expansive merchandising campaign accompanying the film. Though a large amount time remains to drum up even more interest in the movie, the new release date seems to be a solid step in maximizing the film's impact upon its release next year.
