Data for April auctions showed a slight increase in Texas foreclosures. Collin County in Texas experienced minimal rise in foreclosures but also recorded one of the lowest percentage of increases in the area for April.
Despite the strong performance of the county for April, Collin did garner a significant rise on its overall year to date total. The area recorded a 25% home foreclosure auctions increase, the highest in the Fort Worth-Dallas area, from the start of the 2010 period compared with last year.
Around 800 homes in the county became available to people looking to buy foreclosures for sale during the month of March 2010. This represents a 16% rise from the same period of 2009. Statistics provided by the Foreclosure Listing Service of Fort Worth (FLS) showed that the county has reached over 800 foreclosure notices for a single month for the third time.
In comparison with other Texas foreclosures by counties, the April data of Collin is better than Tarrant County, which recorded the highest increase for the month of April with 2,078 houses made available to those looking to buy foreclosures for sale.
The increase represents a 22% rise in Tarrant County’s home foreclosure auctions in comparison with the same period of 2009. On the other hand, Dallas County also recorded the lowest increase in the state for April and tied with Collin at 16%. Dallas County saw 2,606 of its area homes up for home foreclosure auctions.
Although statistics by county showed declines in the number of foreclosures, data for the whole area remains relatively poor. According to real estate analysts, foreclosures in Dallas and Fort Worth rose to a record high for April.
In total, April foreclosure notices reached 6,168. This is even higher than the previous record of 6,072 which happened in July 2009. The overall increase in foreclosures is expected to continue all throughout the area and the whole state for the remaining months of 2010.
Texas foreclosures, broken down by counties, continue to climb as the housing market crisis fails to level off. The area that includes Collin County and Tarrant County has recorded more than 5,000 foreclosure filings for 11 months in the past 13 months analyzed by FLS.
