Comic book fans know Batman will suit up against Bane on screen this weekend in a battle that will soon be followed by Wolverine taking on the Silver Samurai. New rumors speculate that the god Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, will have to fight against the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim when Thor: The Dark World is released, according to E! Online.

The elves biggest weakness is iron, although they'll try to use their superhuman strength and speed as well as their rapid reflexes and above-average brain power against Hemsworth's Thor. The leader of the dark elves is Malekith the Accursed, a character that won't be played by Mads Mikkelsen, who backed out of Thor 2, reported MTV.

I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and said 'Look, we want you all to be elves,' said stuntman James Grogan. And I was like, 'What the hell is an elf anyway?' He said 'I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals.' Honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever, but you just have to not be self-aware and get on with it.

Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, will return for the sequel which is tentatively slated for release in November of 2013. Natalie Portman will play Jane Foster again. They'll be directed by Alan Taylor, who spent time working on the hit HBO fantasy series, Game of Thrones.

Of course, the Dark Elves are from the seventh of the Nine Worlds, Svartalfheim, and in the comics, Malekith sought out the Casket of Ancient Winters, which we saw in the first 'Thor' movie, noted CosmicBookNews.com.
