With Natalie Portman's Jane Foster out of the picture in the upcoming Marvel film “Thor: Ragnarok,” most assumed that Tessa Thompson’s character Valkyrie will become lead character Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) new love interest.

However, according to some spoilers obtained by Screen Geek, Valkyrie will not be the film's leading lady. Jane Foster is not mentioned at all in the script, but Thor seems to have too many things on his mind to think of love at the moment.

Thor and Valkyrie will reportedly become friends. And although there’s a spark between them, they won’t become a couple.

Earlier, Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed why Portman’s character is currently out of the picture. He told The Empire Film Podcast that there are “many reasons” that will explain her absence. “There are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie. [Around] 80 to 90 percent takes place in the cosmos,” he said.

Aside from Thompson’s Valkyrie, there will be several other new players joining the “Thor” franchise, according to Geek. Cate Blanchett is going to play Marvel’s first female villain, Hela, while “Star Trek” star Karl Urban will be playing Skurge the Executioner. In addition, Jeff Goldblum has been tasked to portray The Grandmaster, also known as an “Elder.”

Skurge is an Asgardian warrior who wields a magic axe. He will be Hela’s champion in the film, but he is not completely loyal to her. In the end, Skurge will betray Hela when he finds out about her devious plans, and he will hold off her army at the cost of his own life just to give Thor and his friends a chance to defeat her.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange is also rumored to make a cameo in the film.

“Thor: Ragnarok,” which is directed by Taika Waititi, will be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
