People have been so focused on the introduction of Hela (Cate Blanchett) in “Thor: Ragnarok” that other characters have somehow taken a backseat. But what about Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum)?

Some fans have actually speculated that the two will have some kind of romantic relationship. After all, Marvel planned on introducing Valkyrie not as Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) new girlfriend, but rather a friend and ally during his most trying ordeal.

But Thompson told Comic Book that there’s nothing romantic going on between Valkyrie and the Grandmaster. “I don’t have any romantic relationship with The Grandmaster. It’s a strictly work relationship, which is advantageous, mostly for me,” she said.

The actress did say that Valkyrie’s relationship with the Grandmaster is unique, since the two have managed to maintain good business deals. “I bring the Grandmaster things that may be of interest to him, and one of those happens to be Thor. [The Grandmaster is] always grouping people together in fights, and I brought The Hulk to him, and so I bring Thor as a would-be contender, and hilarity ensues,” she said.

Valkyrie will play a huge role in “Thor: Ragnarok,” and there’s a chance she will also appear in future Marvel films such as “Avengers: Infinity War.” Speaking to Entertainment Weekly earlier, Thompson hinted that Valkyrie might play a bigger role in the Marvel universe and hoped that her character would get to interact with other new players as well.

“You never know where people will pop up. In the next phase, the hope is to find ways to interweave all these characters, and certainly with ‘Infinity War,’ those are the culmination of a lot of work since ‘Iron Man,’” she said. “She’s part of the tapestry now. For me, it’s exciting to join at a time with young actors like Brie Larson and Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. We’re all hopefully going to meet in one of these movies.”

“Thor: Ragnarok” will be released on Nov. 3, while “Avengers: Infinity War” will hit the big screen on May 4, 2018.
