The White House announced Monday that tickets for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll will be available online beginning Thursday, March 26.

This will mark the first time tickets for the event will be available online. The White House said it is putting tickets up for sale online so more children and families from across the United States have the opportunity to experience the event.

As per tradition, the White House will open the South Lawn to children age ten and under, along with their families, to enjoy sports, cooking classes, live musical performances, storytelling and the traditional Easter egg roll.

The event will be held on Monday, April 13 from 8 am to 5 pm.

The annual Easter egg roll event began in 1814 by Dolley Madison, the wife of President James Madison, and was held on the grounds of the United States Capitol.

It was then moved to the White House in 1877 after a new lawn was planted on the Capital grounds and Congress passed a law making it illegal to use the grounds as a children's playground.
