Grammy-nominated comedian Tig Notaro canceled shows scheduled Saturday and Sunday in Boston and Denver on her "Boyish Girl Interrupted" tour, citing a medical emergency on which promoters and her manager did not elaborate, the New York Times reported. The tickets will be refunded and the shows rescheduled.

Notaro performed Thursday at The New York Comedy Festival topless to show her double mastectomy scars, reprising a similar performance in 2012, the year of her diagnosis. The often sardonic Notaro was described as "more confessional and straightforward than her usual work," according to a New York Times review, referring to her standup, which more often that not draws "attention to its own artifice."

In her typical unsentimental style, Notaro once joked about her cancer and double mastectomy in a comedy routine. Referring to the many jokes she'd told about her small breasts, she said they finally got their revenge. "You know what?" she joked, giving them voice. "We're sick of this. Let's kill her."

“Tig is dealing with a medical emergency and is being hospitalized,” promoter AEG Live Rocky Mountain wrote on Facebook. “She will be all right but has to cancel the show tonight.”
