The U.S. lost their chance at a World Cup title when Belgium defeated the Yanks 2-1, but many American soccer fans were quite happy with their team’s efforts. After the game on Tuesday, fans took to Twitter to comment about the unbelievable saves by goalie Tim Howard and the awesome offense of Julian Green.

Green only joined the U.S. team just weeks before the World Cup began, Metro.co.uk wrote. On Tuesday, the Bayern Munich prodigy showed the world why he's considered highly valued player by kicking a mid-air ball into the goal. The 19-year-old has reportedly been linked to Tottenham, and the Spurs valued him at nearly $8.75 million (or £5million).

Even though he playing wasn't enough to keep the U.S. in the World Cup, Howard did make some major saves on Tuesday, which resulted in various Vines being created.

Some people expressed their opinion that Howard is the best player of the 2014 World Cup.

Some might have been disappointed that the U.S. team were eliminated, but plenty of people were able to rejoice in the fact that the American squad played an excellent game. Check out some of the things said on Twitter about Howard and Green below:
