It’s official: Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are legally hitched, and to celebrate the occasion the newlyweds took off on an exotic honeymoon to Tanzania.

Two days after exchanging vows in a ceremony at the Borgo Egnaza resort in southern Italy, the jetsetting couple departed for the coast of Africa for the start of their formal honeymoon. According to E! News the couple arrived at Singita Grumeti, a private game reserve in the country’s world renown Serengeti National Park, via a private helicopter on Oct. 21.

While there, Justin and Jessica embarked on a safari and hot air balloon ride, while staying at the luxurious Sasakwa Lodge. After five days, they moved on to another lodge nearby, the even more exclusive Singita Faru Faru Lodge, where suites can cost up to $5,285 a night. The lodge boasts an impressive roster of hosted activities including daily game drives, archery, mountain biking, and stargazing safaris.

The pair spent another three days at the romantic getaway, before returning to the Kilimanjaro Airport, where they boarded a plane back to the United States.

While the vacation was the first time Timberlake journeyed to the country, it was a return visit for Biel who previously completed a seven-day trek to the top of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in 2010.

The expedition, organized by singer Kenna, was called “The Summit on the Summit,” and was orchestrated to help raise money and awareness for the global water crisis. Among the star-studded group of participants, were fellow actor Emile Hirsch, rapper Santigold, and rapper/producer Lupe Fiasco.

While battling blizzards, hailstorms, and altitude sickness, the group of 12 met local villagers and saw firsthand some of the world’s worst water conditions. Footage from the trip was later used to make a documentary that was broadcast on MTV.

But the grueling experience obviously held a positive emotional significance for Biel, who hopefully got to share that with her new husband. UN Foundation executive Elizabeth Gore, who also attended the charity climb, said that making it to the top of the mountain was an extremely emotional moment for everyone involved, especially Biel.

"I
walked over to Jessie and gave her a big hug," Gore said, in an interview with People. "The two of us embraced and
we just cried. Every single one of us was in absolute tears."
