Tom Cruise is planning to move to Florida after selling his Beverly Hills mansion for $40 million, People magazine reported Wednesday. This comes after the actor is reported to be planning to shift to the U.K. headquarters of Scientologist to spread the religion he follows.

The Los Angeles property, which the “Mission Impossible” actor bought in 2007 for $30.5 million, was shared by his then wife Katie Holmes during their six-year long marriage, People reported.

“Tom has long planned to leave L.A.,” a source told the magazine. “He doesn’t need to be there for work — he’s off doing movies all around the world. It’s not the center of his life anymore,” the insider reportedly added.

Last month, it was reported that 53-year-old Cruise has decided to relocate to the 100-acre Scientology headquarters in London to expand the religion. Renovations for the property were reported to be worth $16 million.

“Tom is relocating to England and uses the Scientology manor as his base. It's the highest recognition to live where L. Ron Hubbard did, and Miscavige clearly believes giving Tom this access will keep his faith in the Church for decades to come,” a source had told Daily Mail.

Cruise’s connection to Scientology had reportedly caused rift between him and Holmes following which the two divorced. Holmes also reportedly feared she would lose their daughter Suri because of which she parted ways from Cruise.
