The world has lost yet another great talent. Following much confusion about his condition, it was confirmed that actor Tommy Ford — best known for his roles as Tommy Strawn on “Martin” and Mel Parker on “The Parkers” — died Wednesday.

False reports regarding Ford’s condition began circulating online Wednesday afternoon after actor Anthony Anderson incorrectly tweeted about his friend’s death. He soon after deleted his initial post citing “misinformation” and asked his followers to pray for Ford and his family. Ford’s wife, Gina Ford, shortly after revealed her husband was on life support and would likely not survive the day. Hours later, it was confirmed that Ford has passed. He was 52.

A number of celebrities who had the opportunity to work alongside Ford took to Twitter to send thoughts and condolences to the father of two and his family after his death. Some recounted fond memories on movie sets and in their personal lives.

Martin Lawrence, who played Ford’s best friend on the hit series “Martin” for five long seasons, addressed his former co-star’s death in a string of heart wrenching tweets. He wrote that he and Ford were friends long before they appeared on fans TV sets together, noting that the friendship they displayed on “Martin” was genuine. Lawrence went on to say that his heart was “heavy” with the news, sending love to the Ford family.

Ford was hospitalized on Oct. 9 after an aneurysm ruptured in his stomach. No further details about his death are known at this time. Funeral arrangements for Ford have not yet been made public.
