Tony Hawk has had a lot of buzz lately thanks to his upcoming video game with Activision, “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5” (THPS5), which promises to bring the series back to its roots while introducing some newer elements to the game. To get fans excited, it was revealed there would be exclusive content for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

Revealed through the official PlayStation Blog, the exclusive content for PlayStation users are special character heads that will allow players to create some of their favorite PlayStation characters in “THPS5.” The characters are Sackboy from “Little Big Planet,” Sweet Tooth from the “Twisted Metal” series and Ratchet from the “Ratchet and Clank” games.

Much like the “Superstar Heads” from “WWE 2K14,” the game allows players to create their favorite character and give it whatever attire they desire, so fans who want to see Sackboy in jeans or Ratchet in a leather jacket can do so. It’s not clear if these characters will have special abilities or tricks compared to the other pro skaters who will be playable in the game, so they could just be there for visual flair.

Guest stars in a “Tony Hawk” game are nothing new as characters like Spider-Man have been making appearances since early games in the series. Perhaps this is a slight nod to the fact that “THPS5” is taking a back-to-basics approach, and the inclusion of special guest stars is a nice wink to older fans.

Xbox gamers who are wondering why only PlayStation users are getting exclusive content have nothing to worry about, as GameSpot has confirmed both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 will have exclusive features not found in the PlayStation verisons. The exclusive content will be revealed on a later date, so Xbox fans don’t have to get riled up at the lack of features.

“Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5” has been slated for a Sept. 29 release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One while the version for last-gen consoles will come out sometime later. Fans also can preorder the game to get exclusive gear and skateboards if they want to do so.
