Oplink Communications Inc (OPLK) shares climbed 5.05 percent to $14.98 in after-hours trading Thursday. The company reported the fourth quarter loss of $5.2 million or a loss of $0.27 per share versus a net income of $26.3 million or earnings of $1.23 per share in the prior year due mainly to a non-recurring deferred tax assets charge.
However, excluding items, adjusted earnings for the fourth quarter were $3.8 million or earnings of $0.19 per share, beating the analysts' expectation of $0.12 per share for the fourth quarter.

The company shares plunged after Attorney General Greg Abbott in a complaint filed Wednesday in an Austin, Texas, court accused the company and its Life Partners Inc unit of fraudulently selling the unregistered securities to the investors.

The net income for the quarter declined to $8.1 million from $8.3 million in the corresponding period last year.
