Gainers: Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (HIG) shares surged 5.7 percent to $20.94 in post market trading session. Hedge fund manager John Paulson, who controls one of the largest stakes in HIG, filed a document with regulators so that he can begin to engage in discussions with Hartford shareholders relating to a spinoff of Hartford's property and casualty insurance business.

“The Hartford said on Tuesday evening that it recognized the potential benefits of a spin-off and looked forward to continued dialogue with Paulson and other shareholders,” Reuters reported.

First Majestic Silver Corp. (AG) shares surged 5.55 percent to $20.15 in post market trading session. The stock has a 52-week low of $13.16, a 52-week high of $26.88 and $2.03 billion in market capitalization.

Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF) shares surged 4.67 percent to $11.87 in aftermarket trading session. RBC Capital Markets raised LGF’s fiscal 2012 revenue estimate to $1.46 billion from $1.38 billion Monday.

ING Group, N.V. (ING) shares gained 4.18 percent to $8.98 in post market trading session. The stock has a 52-week low of $5.80, a 52-week high of $13.41 and $32.63 billion in market capitalization.

Rosetta Stone Inc. (RST) shares advanced 3.47 percent to $9.31 in aftermarket trading session.

MetLife Inc. (MET) shares gained 2.09 percent to $38.10 in post market trading session. Its fourth quarter net profit surged to $1.12 billion or $1.06 per share from $51 million or $0.05 per share in the same period a year ago. Excluding items, the company reported operating net income of $1.4 billion or $1.31 per share compared to $1.194 billion or $1.18 per share last year and against analysts’ estimation of $1.24 per share.

Losers:

Renren Inc. (RENN) shares slumped 6.43 percent to $5.09 in post market trading session. The company announced that it expects fourth quarter operating loss to be in a range of $15 to $17 million due to increased investments and consolidation of a recently acquired video sharing website.

Lone Pine Resources Inc. (LPR) shares declined 3.92 percent to $6.9 in aftermarket trading session.

Sunrise Senior Living Inc. (SRZ) shares declined 3.64 percent to $7.73 in post market trading session. The stock has a 52-week low of $3.68, a 52-week high of $12.44 and $462.26 million in market capitalization.

FXCM Inc. (FXCM) shares declined 3.51 percent to $10.45 in post market trading session. The company announced that as of the close of business on Feb. 14, 2012, there were 19,564,463 shares of its Class A common stock issued and outstanding.

FMC Technologies Inc. (FTI) shares declined 3.29 percent to $52.00 in aftermarket trading session as its fourth quarter earnings and fiscal 2012 earnings guidance fell short of expectations. The company reported fourth quarter net income of $99.2 million or $0.41 per share against analysts’ estimation of $0.51 per share. The company expects fiscal 2012 earnings to be in a range of $2.10 to $2.25 per share, while analysts expect the company to report $2.26 per share for the year.
