The founder and leader of what eventually became Google Glass is moving to Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), disclosing the news on his Google + page and inciting speculation about the e-commerce giant’s next product.

Babak Parvis, an Iranian-American scientist, worked for Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) on its shadowy “Google X” project for three years before developers learned that the Mountain View, California, company had been working on the new high-tech glasses.

Parvis didn’t include any mention of what his role would be at Amazon but, considering all his past work has been focused on interactive lenses, all signs point to him being involved in some way with helping Amazon explore that field.

The Seattle company recently debuted the Fire Phone, the screen of which moves in coordination with the user’s eye.

The Verge suggested that it will take years for the public to learn the details of Parvis’ role with Amazon, especially if a new product is in the works at the company.
