The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several areas in Central Illinois. The areas include Logan country, east central mason country, Menard county and Sangamon county.

Meanwhile, NWS detected a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour (mph). These storms were located along a line extending from Petersburg to Rochester and moving northeast at 45 mph.

Meanwhile, a tornado watch remains in effect until 8.00 am central time Wednesday morning for west central Illinois. Days before a massive tornado ripped through the southwest Missouri town of Joplin, killing over 100 people.
