Toyota Motor Corp. has announced the recall of nearly 185,000 cars internationally Reuters

Toyota Motor Corporation (TYO:7203) said Wednesday it's recalling 185,000 of its vehicles globally after a glitch in the electric power steering system in its Yaris model was discovered, which makes the the steering wheel feel harder to turn.

The recall joins a list of recent Toyota recalls that have threatened the image of the brand. Between 2009 and 2011, more than 5 million cars were reported to have a variety of issues, including issues with an accelerator pedal that affected more than 2 million cars.

The new issues will force the recall of 130,000 cars in Japan, where the Yaris is known as the Vitz, that were made between November 2010 and March 2012. It will also mean that 7,050 such cars will be recalled in Germany and about 7,000 in France, as well as in several smaller countries.

According to Toyota spokesperson Shiori Hashimoto, no accidents have been reported from the glitch.
