Toyota Motor announced its largest recall in the United States today of 3.8 million vehicles on a concern that removable floor mats can interfere with its accelerator and cause a crash.

Toyota's models affected include 2007-2010 Camry, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2004-2009 Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Tundra, 2007-2010 Lexus ES 350 and 2006-2010 Lexus IS 250 and IS350.

For everyone's sake, we strongly urge owners of these vehicles to remove mats or other obstacles that could lead to unintended acceleration, said Ray LaHood, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, according to Forbes.

The recall follows a horrific crash in San Diego in which four family members died when apparently a mat snagged a gas pedal on a runaway Lexus, Forbes reports. The driver experienced no brakes and the accelerator stuck, then smashed into another vehicle at 120 mph.18
