Rocksteady Studios has released a new trailer showcasing the “Red Hood Story Pack” that’s available as pre-order downloadable content (DLC) for the upcoming “Batman: Arkham Knight” video game. Some new details have been revealed about the character: While Batman has promised to never use guns, it seems that Red Hood doesn’t have the same moral code, as he shoots away at bad guys in the short trailer.

Not counting the thugs in the multiplayer mode for “Batman: Arkham Origins,” the Red Hood is the first playable character in the series to ever use firearms -- probably one of the reasons why this Batman game is the first to get an "M for Mature" rating. The character is available for pre-order via GameStop.

Unlike most of the DLC packs for the “Batman Arkham” games, the Red Hood pack will have his own story missions, Comics Alliance has confirmed.

It will be interesting to see how the events of “Arkham Knight” play out from the mysterious character’s perspective. Judging from the character’s design, it appears that this version of the Red Hood is Jason Todd, the second Robin who was killed by the Joker. In the comics, after he was brought back from the dead by the events of “Infinite Crisis,” Jason figured that Batman’s nonlethal methods just weren’t working, so he took up the Red Hood identity to deliver his own version of justice.

Jason Todd isn’t the only new playable character to come to the series though, as the Joker’s sidekick Harley Quinn will also have her own set of missions in the game. The character seems to still be angry at Batman for the death of the Joker at the end of “Arkham City,” so she’s teamed up with Scarecrow, Two Face and the other villains terrorizing Gotham City.

“Batman: Arkham Knight” comes out June 23 for Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One and the PC. This will supposedly be the last “Batman” game from Rocksteady, so it seems like the developer has done everything to make this an epic conclusion.
