Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon won another box office weekend and vaulted itself into the highest grossing movie of the year.

The film, directed by Michael Bay and starring Shia Labeouf, collected $47 million this weekend racking up its total to $261 million in America. Worldwide, the movie has already earned half a billion and it had the largest opening of any movie this year.

The next biggest movie, The Hangover Part II, had $250.8 million in two weeks.

The third Transformers movie held off the Jason Bateman starring comedy Horrible Bosses, which earned $28 million over the weekend. Thus far, it's been a slow year in Hollywood in terms of box office success. Only two other movies besides Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon and The Hangover Part II have earned more than $200 million in the U.S.

However, this isn't expected to last long. Next weekend when the final Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, comes out it will likely win the box office going away. The movie is the final chapter of the Harry Potter saga which has been one of the most acclaimed, successful box office in movie history. The first Deathly Hallows nearly grossed one billion last year.

Behind Transformers and Horrible Bosses was the critically panned Kevin James comedy Zookeeper which did $21 million. In fourth place was Disney/Pixar's Cars 2 and Bad Teacher rounded out the top five.
