George Zimmerman made his first appearance before a Florida judge on Thursday since being charged with second-degree murder in the death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin.
In a proceeding lasting less than five minutes, a judge set a formal arraignment date for May 29. After Zimmerman left the proceeding, his attorney asked the judge for certain records to be sealed.
Outside the jail after the hearing, attorney Mark O'Mara said he had decided not to ask for bail to be set at this time because it might only arouse the fervour around the case.
