“True Blood” has some more new blood joining season six. The latest to join the hit HBO series is Tony Award nominee Valarie Pettiford.

Pettiford, 52, received a Tony nomination for her role in the Broadway production of “Fosse.” News of the actress’s casting was reported on Deadline.com. The site teases that the “Golden Boy” and former “One Life To Live” actress will be jumping aboard the supernatural bandwagon for a two-episode arc starting in episode seven.

Judging by the title of episode seven, “The Funeral,” Pettiford will be stepping into some drama. While details on her character are currently unknown, a brief summary for the episode has leaked online. According to the “True Blood” Wikia page, Eric will be pledging his loyalty to Bill as a “last resort” in order to save Nora. Sam will face a “tragedy close to home” and return to Bon Temps despite Alcide’s warnings, and Jessica will be showing her gratitude to James, a highly intelligent, sexy, compassionate and protective vampire, who is also a prisoner.

It’s assumed that Pettiford will also be appearing in episode eight of season six. Titled “A Change Is Gonna Come,” the episode is slated to air on Aug. 4.

New episodes of “True Blood” air on HBO on Sundays at 9 p.m. You can check out Pettiford when “The Funeral” airs on July 28.
