A major earthquake hit in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday, prompting tsunami warnings in India, Myanmar, Indonesia , Thailand and Bangladesh.

The quake, which struck at 1:55 a.m. local time on Wednesday (1955 GMT, 3:55 p.m. EDT) was centered off the coast of India’s Andaman Islands, located between India and Myanmar.

The quake was about 163 miles north of Port Blair in the Adamans, about 20.2 miles below ground, the U.S. Geological Survey said, according to the Times of India.
