RTTNews - Wednesday, the Turkish statistical office announced that the consumer confidence index rose to 85.27 in June from 83.28 in May. Economists were looking for a reading of 85.

An index reading above 100 suggests an optimistic outlook, a level equal to 100 indicates neither optimistic or pessimistic outlook and a figure below 100 reflects pessimistic outlook.

The statistical agency noted that the improvement in consumer confidence came from better assessments of purchasing power for the present and future periods, general economic situation and job prospects in the next period.
