There's been a lot of hype surrounding video game releases as of late, with titles such as Diablo 3 and Max Payne 3 quickly approaching. But what about the second half of 2012? With the holiday season being a critical time for retail sales, players should know what they have to look forward to. It's no secret that Assassin's Creed 3 will be launching at the end of October, but a list of other titles are set to launch around that time as well, courtesy of Game Informer:

Sleeping Dogs- Aug. 17

Dark Souls (PC)- Aug. 24

Madden NFL 13- Aug. 28

Far Cry 3- Sept. 4

Borderlands 2- Sept. 18

Resident Evil 6- Oct. 2

Dishonored- Oct. 9h

Medal of Honor: Warfighter- Oct. 23

Assassin's Creed III- Oct. 30

Halo 4- Nov. 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2- Nov. 13

Hitman: Absolution- Nov. 20

In addition to these, BioShock: Infinite has been delayed and is now confirmed for a Feb. 26, 2013, launch. There are also some other games that are in production and waiting for a release date, such as Skylanders Giants, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Tomb Raider, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, and Brothers in Arms: Furious 4. These titles are sure to face some stiff competition with Black Ops 2 hitting shelves in November, but it looks like autumn will boast a solid lineup of releases.

But new titles aren't all the gamers have to look forward to. Nintendo's next generation console, the Wii U, could launch this November. At the end of April a memo leaked from popular Japanese gaming retailer, Media Land, revealing that the system will be available on Nov. 18. However, Nintendo says it is holding off until after this June's E3 conference to announce the official price and release date for the console.

On May 7 a list of 25 games that are said to launch with the Wii U leaked through the UK's Blockbuster database, but these have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo.
